  • In my three years working with and overseeing Jacob, he led a team of editors to deliver thousands of high quality assets. He continuously raised the bar not just in his execution of sizzle reels, gamified fitness content, product vision pieces, and narrative work, but developed and implemented systems and mechanisms to drive improvements in efficiency at every turn. His attention to detail ensured a magical experience with org topping customer satisfaction ratings. Jacob’s work with Amazon Halo set the standards for his team and colleagues, establishing him as not just an editor, but a strong leader and innovator. I highly recommend Jacob for any senior editorial positions.

  • It was my first day on a new job back in 2021 when a four thousand pound forklift ran over my computer on set and cracked the thing into a thousand pieces. As I held back tears, I found a guy sitting in a dark room surrounded by a bunch of big monitors and drives so naturally thought maybe he could fix the thing. I said, "Oh hey Luke—can you fix this thing?" Jake said "Hmmmm, let me have a look."  While he wasn’t able to put humpty dumpty back together again, below are a few things I learned about him as we worked together for the next two years.

    1. The name’s Jake, not Luke

    2. So much patience and empathy

    3. Stays calm in just about any situation

    4. Great storyteller

    5. Quickly understands how to make a piece better

    6. Knows where any piece of footage is at any time

    7. Excellent listener and collaborator

    8. Has an eye for detail while understanding the broader objective

    9. Knows how to utilize his team of post-production specialists

    10. Can make something special out of anything

Moral of the story: Don’t leave your backpack on set while it’s under construction and find an editor like Jake to work with for at least the next two or 10 years.

  • Jake is first and foremost a wonderful person to be associated with.  Not only in the workspace but outside of it as well.  He’s genuine, caring, creative and very hard working.

When Jake came to me as an intern at Cole & Weber in 2012, I've never seen an intern soak up as much as he did.  His goal was to learn more about editing but he also learned more of how to be a creative, a writer, a producer and an editor.  That is why I hired him as soon as he graduated.

Over the years I have hired Jake as a creative and as an editor. A lot of the time I will just brief him on a project and allow him to concept the idea on his own. When I was a producer at PB&, he primarily worked on our trailers, promos and documentary content, which he succeeded at with or without guidance.

Jake has all the skills as an editor but it goes much deeper than that.  Anyone would be lucky to have him.

  • During his 2.5 years at Halo, Jake consistently played an integral part in our first-party content operation. Whether in his role at the infancy of the brand defining a visual look & feel for our fitness offering, establishing new processes as our team scaled to 10+ in post, or collaborating closely with engineering to construct workflows for our new-to-the-world, CV-driven content, Jake has never failed to go above and beyond to ensure the team was delivering best in class creative at scale.

  • Jake is honest, dependable and incredibly hardworking. His wide-ranging post production knowledge made him an excellent lead editor for the team and a great partner for creating realistic workflows for ambitious creative ideas. Beyond that, he is an impressive problem solver, who’s edits quickly get approved by the creative team and he has a knack for finding excellent content in the depths of our footage library. Project after project, Jake displayed a level of creativity, wit and analytical thought that was needed to accomplish some very difficult executions. On top of that, his leadership created a culture of responsible and all around good humans.

As I’m sure you can tell from Jake’s portfolio, the quality of his editing speaks for itself. As his producer for almost 2 years, I can attest that Jake is an impressive, reliable, consistent, and creative person who supports his colleagues, takes initiative, and is an absolute pleasure to work with.

  • Jacob is an exceptional individual who consistently demonstrates unwavering commitment to his work. Not only is he an inspiring and intelligent person, but he also possesses an innate ability to foster an enjoyable working environment. Despite the high-pressure nature of our work and tight deadlines, Jacob remained a calm leader, always going above and beyond to meet challenges head-on.

A notable example of his exceptional skills is when he single-handedly constructed the editing workflow for the computer vision project we undertook. This endeavor involved meticulously organizing and tracking the delivery of hundreds of thousands of video assets. Leveraging his profound knowledge of Adobe software, Google Sheets, and automation programming, Jacob was able to accomplish the work of ten individuals while significantly reducing the risk of human error. I have yet to encounter someone who can tackle such demanding tasks with such efficiency.

Moreover, Jacob has an innate understanding of the creative process including when to escalate, how to tackle feedback, how to implement editing techniques, and how to sit with creatives. He shared his expertise and skill set with the editors on a regular basis, fostering cohesion within the team and boosting all of us up.

I have the utmost confidence that Jacob would make an invaluable addition to your team.

  • Jake Foltz is the most collaborative and insightful editor I've worked with in my 20 years as an audio professional. Aside from his editing skills (and surprisingly great audio skills), the thing that impressed me most about Jake was that he was always calm and confident in the midst of chaotic deadline storms, and his presence was grounding for me and everyone else in a way that always led to a focused approach what needed to be accomplished. He's a strong advocate of everyone on his team, and it led to a continuous series of collaborative successes we were all proud of.

He isn't just a studiously devoted professional, however. He's also kind and funny and extremely present in a way that always made me grateful to have him on my team. His constant pursuit of excellence ensures any team he is a part of is truly worth working with. I wholeheartedly recommend Jake, as his skill set and character will bring significant value to your team.
