How Do You Darigold: The Petty Family
director, editor, animator
A day-in-the-life of James Beard Award Winning Chef Max Petty and his family. I adopted the “fly on the wall” technique and let their kids do whatever they wanted. By giving that space, the story had to be found in the edit, but there is an honesty and an authenticity that comes through as the toddler chaos ensues. Shot for Darigold.
Battle of the Athletes
editor
Marshawn Lynch and Lonzo Ball compete in this video for Xbox Sessions. I edited in both multi-camera and single-camera timelines to highlight interesting moments while making it appear seamless.
Lottery Vending Machine Keynote
editor, keying
Rolling out Washington Lottery’s vending machines required a tech-style keynote to explain it’s WORLD CHANGING features. We used a special integrated-audience-reaction-mechanism (AKA stock footage of audiences cheering) to reflect the worldwide response to these LIFE CHANGING vending machines.
Hydro Flask Live Refreshed
editor, motion graphics artist, camera assistant
For Hydro Flask’s first video, we shot on location in Maui & Bend, Oregon. But it all came together when we found the perfect track — a fast-paced love song dedicated to the bottle and describes how it’s a companion for any adventure. After that, I cut to the beats and the rest was history. The video is still used and published by Hydro Flask to this day.
The Game of Kubb
director, motion graphics designer
After cutting this 30 for 30 spoof, I realized we needed to establish more upfront to properly contextualize the film. So I added an instructional video that shows how to play and win Kubb & I added a hype-reel that introduced the Kubb athletes earlier on. Made in 48 hours. Winner of the Audience Choice Award at the Seattle 48 Hour Film Project, beating 53 other films in competition.

A silent ad for Washington’s Lottery and Honda. The whacky wavy arms dudes are natural street performers but aren’t great in front of the camera. Gary, pictured here in the thumbnail, took two hours of pep talk in his trailer just to muster the courage of picturing a spider at his feet. To which I responded, “Gary, you don’t have feet.”
Rock Band 4 "Freestyle" Trailer
co-editor
I picked up this project near it’s completion. I gave it a “controlled chaos” feel with faster cuts and added more band pun easter eggs. In addition, I created all the TV spot cut downs.

Nutshell Classics: Bad Santa (Bleeped)
editor, videographer
For Cole & Weber’s agency holiday card, we shrunk down holiday classics to 6 seconds or less. We shot 16 of these and this one was my favorite.
Programming Content
Music Genesis Trailer
editor
This trailer was cut for a branded content series for Visit Seattle that focuses on the creation of famous songs from Sir Mix-A-Lot, Band of Horses, and Mary Lambert.
State of Glass: Neon
co-editor
I picked up this project when it was midway through post-production and lead it across the finish line. There are three episodes in this branded content series, but this is the only one that had significant changes once I took over. The goal was to mimic the editing style and keep the integrity of the piece alive as broad-stroke feedback came in from the agency and client.
PB& Visit Seattle Sizzle
editor
Award-winning ad agency PB& wanted a sizzle reel that highlighted their long-term relationship with tourism brand Visit Seattle. They gave me a rough outline of content to include and I did the rest.
Fingers
director, editor
Using Cloud Atlas, Stalker, and Children of the Corn as inspiration, we successfully made this film in 48 hours for the Seattle 48 Hour Horror Film Festival. A constantly shrinking aspect ratio gives the film a trapped feeling as the protagonist gets lost deeper in the woods.

The Good, The Bad, & Vanessa

Going into the action scene, we thought showing each punch and reaction in the same shot would be the way to go. However, we found that by setting up this rule, we could break it to a huge effect. Tacoma Film Festival Official Selection.

Aired on broadcast television, this ad for BECU needed to give a fresh look to footage used in previous ads. We landed on creating a grid and slowing footage using digital frames to make it palatable. This gave the footage a community-like context, inline with their brand goals.

DNA Agency Sizzle
editor
This sizzle was made to showcase DNA’s advertising work and is used on their website. They gave me folder with everything they wanted to include and I did the rest. The content was sourced from videos and work previously created by DNA. The flyby titles and logos were animated by me.

Field Day
editor
Instead of recording a typical event video for Budweiser’s “Field Day”, we explored the story of a local barley farmer and his family to give the event some emotional gravitas. In the edit, I found that we couldn’t just start with emotional moments, but had to end on one as well.

Dreamcatcher by Matty Brown Trailer
editor
With a goal of keeping the integrity of the beautiful short film made by Matty Brown, the trailer was cut by shaving frames of shots to give the audience a sense of the film’s story, mood, and tone while increasing pace. The original sound mix was re-edited to create the “big hits” found in normal trailers. Made for Visit Seattle and Film Independent.

Introducing Crowdsourced Cabernet
animator
An animated explainer video that walks the viewer through the process of creating the world’s first crowdsourced wine. This was my first project after graduating from undergrad and became a calling card for future projects. Winner of the “Best of Show” award at the Seattle ADDY awards 2015.

This is a student film made for a 60 second film festival. We had a plethora of production challenges including having only an hour of time to shoot in the bar, and having our cinematographer get in a car accident on his way to the shoot, but we did the best we could and the result turned out better than expected.
Bike Cops
director, writer, editor
A comedy that moves from one idea to the next. Ending on a fake commercial was found in the edit and served as a better ending then what was written.
Last Night - A Visual Poem
Sanctuary (The Four Seasons)
director, editor
Filmed over the course of a year, this film explores the changing of flora through the seasons. There are four sections of the film with a unique color grade, editing style, and aspect ratio to show the contrast between the seasons. The music track was created before the film and was used as a jumping off point to inspire the piece.
Heads or Tails
director, writer, vfx artist
This is a student film made in 48 hours. To create the opening scene we shot the actors on a line, behind a bunch of lights and they acted in slow motion. All effects, movements, and speed-ramps were made in post.
Tesseract
director, writer, editor
An experimental film inspired by avante-garde, German Expressionism, and the fourth spatial dimension. The editing is intentionally stilted and becomes more incomprehensible as the film comes to a close.
Facade
director, writer, editor
One of my first films — a magical realism, psychological thriller inspired by the Id, Ego, and Superego. The film uses editing, insert shots, and match cuts to show how the characters in two different worlds relate to one another.
